FUSK Welcome |
Why 'fusk'?When I was working on cellular phone design in Denmark the term 'fusk' was commonly used to describe doing hobby/home jobs, such as amateur radio projects, while at work. Some more precise usage is given below. I signed up with Demon Internet before they had even launched the service and at that time the idea of an Internet host at home struck me as being a similar concept of an amateur amongst the professionals. So 'fusk' was chosen as the host name. These are some definitions from "Gyldendals Dansk-engelsk Ordbog" fusk (et): det var noget ~ it was a bungle; (se også fuskeri). fuske vb (kludre) bungle; (nusse rundt) footle (el. mess) about (fx he was messing about in his workshop); ~ med (som amatør) dabble in (fx painting), (prøve at reparere) tinker with (fx a machine). fusker (en -e) (amatør) dabbler; (klodrian) bungler. fuskeragtig adj bungling, unworkmanlike. fuskeri (et) bungling; botched work; (snyderi) cheating.
